Technician Class One Day School
From time to time WARS sponsors a one day school to help potential licensees prepare to take the license test. For more information, please send an e-mail to testing@n5wf.org.
Below are some important things to keep in mind about the one day class and the license test before registering and attending the school.
- Attendance at the class does not guarantee an individual will pass the license exam and earn an Amateur radio license.
- Start reading the question pool ASAP. Delete any questions you already know, this way you only see and review the questions you don't know!
- Students must study the ARRL textbook and take practice tests before attending the class!
- In order to pass the test you will need to spend approximately 20-30 hours studying the material before class/test day. All it takes is 1 hour a day to read the material.
- Mark specific questions you don't understand and we will discuss them in class.
- The one day class is meant to answer questions and highlight important material. It will be impossible to cover all aspects of the material required to pass the exam in the 8 hour class. If you wait until the class to look at the material, you will not pass the test!
- Start taking practice tests online as soon as possible. The more practice tests you take, the better your chances of passing will be!
- Persons applying for their first license must provide their Social Security Number or an FCC Registration Number (FRN). If you do not have an FRN and are uncomfortable providing your Social Security Number, please visit the link below to obtain an FRN before the test session. If pre-registering, please do not forget to bring the FRN to the test session.
